KIZHI
KIZHI
Service Description
Kizhi (specifically Patra Pinda Swedana) is a specialized sudation therapy that harnesses the potent anti-inflammatory properties of fresh medicinal leaves and herbs. By combining deep-tissue heat with the healing essence of traditional Ayurvedic chemistry, this treatment effectively "melts" away stiffness and provides lasting relief from chronic musculoskeletal pain. The Thermal Ritual The process is a rhythmic and deeply warming experience that lasts approximately 45 minutes. The Preparation: A selection of fresh herbal leaves and therapeutic powders are fried in medicated oils and tied into soft muslin bags to create the "Kizhis" (boluses). The Application: These boluses are continuously dipped into a vessel of hot medicated oil and applied to the entire body. The therapists use a combination of synchronized strokes and rhythmic "pattings" to ensure the heat and herbal essences penetrate deep into the muscle fibers and bone marrow. The Absorption: The heat opens the pores, allowing the medicated oils to carry the herbal properties directly to the site of inflammation or pain. Clinical Applications Kizhi is the treatment of choice for inflammatory conditions and structural discomfort: Joint & Bone Health: It is highly effective for managing Osteoarthritis and Spondylosis, as the heat reduces the "dryness" in the joints and improves natural lubrication. Inflammation Control: Specifically targeted for Arthritis with swelling, the herbs help drain excess fluid and reduce inflammatory markers in the localized area. Sports Injury Recovery: Accelerates the healing of muscle pulls, ligament strains, and sports-related trauma by increasing localized blood circulation and relaxing tight muscle fibers. Vata Management: As a classic heat therapy, it is excellent for grounding the "cold" and "mobile" nature of Vata, making it perfect for sciatica and chronic back pain.
