SNEHAPANAM

1 hNorth Cliff Road

Service Description

Snehapana is the most critical preparatory step (Poorvakarma) before undergoing Shodhana (detoxification). By consuming precisely measured doses of medicated ghee (Ghritam), the body is lubricated from the inside out. This process softens the tissues and "dislodges" metabolic wastes from the smallest channels (Srotas), making the subsequent detoxification process far more effective and less taxing on the body. The Systematic Protocol Snehapana is a disciplined ritual that requires careful monitoring by an Ayurvedic physician. The Progressive Dosage: The treatment typically lasts 3 to 7 days. It begins with a small, manageable amount of medicated ghee taken on an empty stomach in the early morning. Each day, the quantity is "proportionally increased" as the body’s digestive fire (Agni) adapts. The Medicated Medium: The ghee used is infused with specific herbs tailored to the patient’s condition. For instance, bitter herbs are often used for skin conditions, while nourishing herbs are used for degenerative bone issues. The Observation: The process continues until the body reaches a state of "saturation," indicated by specific signs like the appearance of oiliness on the skin and the smell of ghee in the breath. Clinical Applications Snehapana is a potent therapeutic tool for addressing chronic and systemic imbalances: Degenerative & Joint Health: Highly effective for Osteoarthritis, as it lubricates the joints and reduces the friction caused by Vata imbalance. Dermatological Recovery: It is the gold standard for treating Psoriasis and chronic eczema, as the medicated ghee purifies the blood and deeply hydrates the skin layers. Blood & Metabolic Disorders: Traditionally utilized in the management of complex conditions like Leukemia and other blood-related ailments to stabilize tissue formation. Dosha Balancing: It is a primary treatment for both Vata and Pitha Vyadhis (disorders), cooling the heat of Pitha and grounding the dryness and instability of Vata.
